Fanny Burney [married name D'Arblay] (1752-1840) writer and diarist. Fanny was a frequent visitor to Boyle Farm, and a fervent admirer of Colonel Stephen Digby, even though he was married. When his first wife died and he remarried Charlotte Gunning - who was much younger than Fanny with a large fortune - she poured her spleen into her diary! The original manuscript is in the Berg Collection in New York Public Library.
