Henry Thoby Prinsep
Henry Thoby Prinsep, (1792-1878), East India Company official, writer on India and the Far East. According to Janet Ross's autobiography, the Prinseps with members of their famous Little Holland House artistic and literary social salon, most notably Watts and Ellen Terry, used to spend time each winter of the late 1850s and early 1860s staying with 'an old aunt' of Thoby Prinsep's, although Barbara Coffey Bryant in her ONDB biography of G.F. Watts asserts it was Thoby Prinsep's sister. Various sources refer to the tenant at Sandown House as Mrs 'Sandeman' and 'Sanderson'. Possibly Georgiana Sophia Prinsep, who married George Haldimand, who died young. George Haldimand was brother to William Haldimand (1784-1862), the nephew and heir of Sir Frederick Haldimand.
