John Ligonier [formerly Jean-Louis de Ligonier], Earl Ligonier (1680-1770) Commander-in-chief of British army during Seven years War. There is a famous Joshua Reynolds portrait of 1760. He spent his later years at Cobham Park where the unmarried Earl reputedly kept a harem of four young girls. He died aged 89, and is buried in Cobham Church with a memorial in Westminster Abbey.
