Michael Bentine, (1922-1996) comedian and children's entertainer. Found fame with the legendary radio comedy 'The Goon Show', but left the Goons after two series. He moved to TV with The Bumblies in 1954 on the BBC. It was written, produced and directed by Bentine. From 1974-1980 he did the hugely popular children's show 'Michael Bentine's Potty Time' on ITV. He lived near the old fire station, and always opened the Esher May Fair in the mid-1960s!
