Noel Langley (1911-1980) novelist, playwright, screenwriter and director. As a studio screenwriter at MGM he adapted 'The Wizard of Oz' for film, although his script was substantially rewritten and he hated the final film. He became famous for his adaptations of books and in 1951 wrote 'Scrooge' based on Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol', which was filmed at Nettlefold Studios in Walton.
