Tom Evans (1947 - 1983) musician and singer-songwriter. Joined 'The Iveys' in 1967 just before they found fame and fortune. A year later, after signing to 'The Beatles' Apple label, the band reformed as Badfinger, releasing six albums and four hit singles. Following band member Peter Ham's suicide in 1975 Badfinger folded and Evans failed to match their success. Evans most successful song was 'Without You', co-written with Peter Ham, and recorded by Harry Nilsson in 1971. The song was also a hit for Paul Anka and Mariah Carey. Evans too committed suicide, in his Weybridge home, after losing a $5m lawsuit over copyright on the song and following a failed American tour.
